Celebrations are meant to be remembered, but the most meaningful ones are those that become a reason for someone else to smile.
On August 21, 2026, the Rotary Club of Constitution Hill – Bagong Sandigan started its 12 Charter Anniversary activities with a day of service at CHILD Haus, Quezon City under the care and leadership of Past President Jeannette Cu (Rotary Club of Kamuning Central).
Center for Health Improvement and Life Development (CHILD HAUS) is a non-profit institution that provides free temporary shelter and support for children with cancer and other serious illnesses, particularly those coming from provinces for treatment in Metro Manila.
We spent the day with 25 transient cancer patients and their families, while also celebrating the birth month of our dear Past President Doris Sanchez, who chose to share her blessings to those who needed it most. For a few precious hours, we wanted them to forget the heaviness of hospital visits, treatments, and worries, through a short program. The smiles of the children and their special song number were perhaps the greatest gift we received that day. Their laughter reminded us that sometimes, service does not need to be grand to be powerful. A simple game, a shared meal, a story, or a warm smile can mean so much to someone going through a difficult journey.
That spirit of compassion was reflected in everyone who joined the activity. Led by Legacy President Kat Dela Cruz, this gathering united 10 Sandigans, 10 Interactors, 2 volunteers, and a Rotarian from our Korean sister club. We donated food, cleaning supplies, diapers, and books to help support CHILD Haus. Yet beyond these gifts, we left something more valuable, HOPE. We join them in that they are not alone in their fight.
What began as an anniversary activity became a celebration of humanity. The smiles we witnessed reaffirmed why we serve, because every life touched, every moment shared, and every spark of hope makes the journey worthwhile.
